The Cessnock Community of Great Public Schools choir, consists of students in Years Four, Five and Six from schools with in our Local Management Group area.
Following their successful first year of performing, the Choir received the 'Marthaville Cultural' award for outstanding contribution to our local community at the local Australia Day Ceremony. The award, presented by Kamal was gladly received by our choir coordinators and teachers, Mrs Vicki Osborn and Miss Annie Devine, both of Cessnock East Public School.
In 2011, selected students from Abermain, Bellbird, Cessnock East, Cessnock Public, Cessnock West, Congewai, Millfield, Nulkaba and Paxton will again have the opportunity to compete in various choral competitons. The choir has also been requested to perform at numerous community events throughout the local area.
At Cessnock East Public School it is our pleasure to acknowledge the Wonnaruah people, the traditional custodians of the land on which our school is built.
We pay respect to Elders past and present, and recognise their cultural heritage, beliefs and relationship with the land.
At Cessnock East Public School we acknowledge the significance of culture in our education and thank the community for their ongoing support and for encouraging us to explore and satisfy our curiosity.
